Plumeria Bouquet
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 04/24/18Trying to keep the light coming from the top and behind the bouquet of flowers. Bottom left leaf not yet complete.

Plumeria Bouquet 16x20"
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 04/22/18I am painting another Singapore white plumeria watercolor. This one will have a yellow glow and be more close up than my previous painting.

Koko Head White Plumerias
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 04/15/18I darkened the background, added a petal to the lower left plumeria and darkened petal shadows to make the white pop.

White Plumerias Finishing Up
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 04/10/18Made good progress. Still need to refine the lower areas.

Kokohead White Plumerias Continued
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 04/08/18Making good progress on this one. Added shadows to flower petals and a few layers of the background. I don't want to go too dark on the petal shadows until I see the contrast of the flowers against the background.

Kokohead White Plumerias 16x20"
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 04/07/18Back to plumerias with this white variety from the Kokohead Botanical Garden plumeria grove. I started with the leaves on the right. Flowers will be on the left side with light coming from behind the leaves on the right.

"Noni - Fruit of the Gods" 16x20" Watercolor
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 04/04/18The noni painting is done. There are many medicinal uses for the fruit and leaves as explained in articles on the internet. I have benefited from the liquid linament. I know people who drink the fermented juice from the fruit. The chickens and pigs love the smelly ripened fruit.

Fairs Through May
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 04/02/18I will be at the following fairs through May. Hope to see you at one or more of them.
Noni Leaf Change
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 04/02/18After painting the irregular leaf details top left, I decided to enhance the dark leaf on the right to be less smooth. I will probably have impressions of leaves in the dark areas top right.

Noni Leaves
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/31/18There are 4 layers of color on the darker leaf. No wonder it takes so long to complete a painting in watercolor! I may change the lower half of the leaf on the right.

Noni Continued
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/31/18Started adding the markings on one of the noni fruit. I will shape it with color next.

Noni Starting with Leaves
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/30/18The painting will be brighter and leaves greener than in the reference photo. I have my tree to refer to for color accuracy and have painted the first layer of green. The challenge will be to show the sunshine on the leaves by leaving white areas on them. Paper size is 16 x 20."

Noni Fruit of the Gods
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/29/18I have always wanted to paint the noni fruit. I have a reference photo from several years ago and there are beautiful leaves on the tree to look at so this will be a departure from landscapes and flowers. Google "noni" to check out the medicinal value of fruit and leaves.

Dendrobium Done
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/29/18I ended up scrubbing out some of the dark background to get this mottled look. I am going to stop at this point and call the painting done.

Dendrobium Continued
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/27/18Adding a few more leaves for better balance. I am going to be softening some of the edges of the flowers.

Dendrobium Orchids Nearly Done
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/26/18I am keeping this painting fairly simple.

March thru May Fairs - One Location Change
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/22/18I will be at the following fairs for the rest of March through May. Hope to see you at one or more of them.
Dendrobium Background
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/22/18I am starting on the background before finishing the orchids. This will let me see the contrast between flowers and background.

Dendrobium Leaf and Stem
by Marcia Minnichhofer on 03/21/18Since my photo only had flowers, I had to research how they came off of the stem. Even made a trip to the Walmart garden shop. I will probably have a leaf or two upper left.
